Shall girls wearing headscarf be allowed to attend pre-university public schools?

Allowing or not girls wearing headscarves to attend public education institutions has longbeen a contentious topic in the media and politics, yet the voice of the public has often beenoverlooked. This study aims to identify the stand of the public regarding this sensitive issue.Furthermore, it seeks to assess the extent to which systemic, extrinsic, and intrinsic values -considered as dimensions of value - affect the Albanian public and to identify any correlationwith demographic factors such as age, gender, and level of faith. Data for this study wascollected via a questionnaire distributed through Google Forms. The methodology employedboth quantitative and qualitative evaluations. 62.7% of participants expressed oppositionto allowing girls wearing headscarves attend public schools, referring concerns about thepotential impact of religious symbols on the social cohesion; the study revealed a correlationbetween age and intrinsic values, reaching a peak for 30-40 years old.
