The Higher Education Institution “Qiriazi” is responsible for drafting policies and procedures for internal quality assurance. To fulfill this duty, the Higher Education Institution “Qiriazi” has established a separate institutional structure called the Internal Quality Assurance Unit (IQA Unit), composed of five members:
a) Four members are full-time academic staff who do not hold managerial positions;
b) One member is a student recommended by the Student Council of the institution.
The candidates are selected by the Rector, in consultation with the relevant structures from which they are proposed. The approval of the members of the IQA Unit and its chairperson is made by the Academic Senate.
The Internal Quality Assurance Unit has operational autonomy and access to all institutional data. This unit reports directly to the Rector and is accountable to both the Rector and the Academic Senate for fulfilling its responsibilities.
The Quality Assurance Unit periodically evaluates the results of teaching and scientific-research activities. At the end of each semester, or before the examination season, the IQA Unit organizes student surveys to assess the quality of teaching in each study program course.
The Quality Assurance Unit conducts follow-up studies to evaluate student employment outcomes and the effectiveness of the programs offered by the Higher Education Institution “Qiriazi.” Quality assurance standards are drafted by the Higher Education Institution “Qiriazi” in accordance with the Quality Code. Evaluation reports prepared by the IQA Unit within the institution are also used as a source for external evaluation and continuous quality improvement.
The foundation for quality assurance processes and procedures in higher education is the Quality Code, which defines the state quality standards mandatory for implementation by every higher education institution, including the Higher Education Institution “Qiriazi.” The Quality Code is both the responsibility and duty of ASCAL to draft, and it is certified by a decision of the Council of Ministers.
The Higher Education Institution “Qiriazi” is subject to institutional evaluation and accreditation, as well as the accreditation of each study program it offers, within the deadlines prescribed by law, and to reaccreditation within the validity period of their accreditation, specifically for no more than six years.
The Higher Education Institution “Qiriazi” assumes responsibility for covering the costs of external quality evaluation, as well as for the accreditation of the institution and each study program it offers, according to the fees set by decision of the Council of Ministers.
External control and auditing of the Higher Education Institution “Qiriazi” are carried out by auditors appointed by the ministry responsible for education. Internal control and auditing of the Higher Education Institution “Qiriazi” are carried out by the Audit Office, a separate structure operating at the institutional level. The functioning of the Audit Office is carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Higher Education Institution “Qiriazi.”
