Faculty of Economics

The Faculty of Economics is based on Law no. 80/2015 “On Higher Education and Scientific Research in Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Albania”, on the Statute of the Institution, on the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Sports, as well as on the current practice of university studies.

The Faculty of Economics is a main academic unit that:

  • Coordinates teaching, scientific research, and services to third parties.

  • Provides educational, professional, and scientific training in the field of business management and finance.

  • Offers first-cycle and second-cycle study programs, at the completion of which students are awarded a diploma.

Studies in the Faculty of Economics aim at the professional education and scientific qualification of students in the field of economics, specifically in business management, finance, accounting, the design and use of computer programs in economics and business.

Studies in the Faculty of Economics are oriented toward professional education and scientific qualification of students through the integration of teaching with research. The Faculty of Economics offers study programs in the fields of Business Management, Finance, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Business Informatics.

The development of new study programs is carried out in accordance with the needs of society, existing conditions, and the development prospects of the country.

University study programs are organized at two consecutive levels: First Cycle and Second Cycle of studies.

Graduation at both levels of university studies ensures the preparation of specialists capable of contributing to solving technical problems in their respective fields. The study programs of the Faculty of Economics are based on the theoretical and practical achievements of the sciences in general, and in particular, economic sciences, management, and business informatics, aiming to reach a level comparable to that of analogous faculties at home and abroad.

The Faculty of Economics offers accredited study programs, organized in courses/modules and assessed in credits according to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). The total number of credits accumulated during one academic year by a full-time student is 60 credits.

Study programs are designed and approved by the departments, discussed in the dean’s office, and approved by the Academic Senate of the College.

The Faculty of Economics publicly announces the accredited study programs it offers before the start of admissions.

The first-cycle and second-cycle study programs contain the following elements:

  • General information about the program, its form and main objectives, its curriculum accompanied by the compulsory study credits;

  • Classification of the study program, made applicable with the creation of the national qualifications framework, as well as the admission requirements for the study program;

  • Methods of student evaluation and the conditions for progression in the program;

  • Conditions for transfers between programs and conditions for partial completion of the program, if foreseen.
