The Department of Civil and Commercial Law (DCCL) is one of the core units within the Faculty of Law. It is a basic teaching-research unit that encompasses homogeneous research fields and groups the corresponding academic disciplines. The DCCL monitors and oversees the smooth running of the teaching process for the programs it covers.
The mission of the DCCL is to create, transmit, develop, and provide knowledge through teaching, scientific research, and services. Through modern study programs, the DCCL aims to train highly qualified specialists in the field of law and prepare young researchers, in response to and in line with the labor market in Albania and other Western countries.
The mission of the DCCL is also linked to ensuring quality and guaranteeing academic standards for all study programs; promoting, supporting, and developing the scientific activities of academic staff and students; providing lifelong learning opportunities; carrying out services to third parties; cooperating with other departments inside and outside the country; fostering internationalization, mainly through scientific activity, participation in national and international projects, staff and student mobility; as well as adapting programs to the demands of the time.
The objectives of the DCCL are connected with the formative objectives and activities of the study programs it offers. The Department also aims to:
a) encourage and coordinate teaching-research activities among departments, without infringing on the academic freedom of the academic staff;
b) develop research activities, services, and training for third parties;
c) present its development priorities at the broader institutional level;
d) contribute to the design of the faculty’s didactic projects;
e) collaborate with other departments to create new study programs, in line with and in response to labor market demands, specifying the contribution of each participating department to the new program (teaching load, courses, academic staff, study formats, etc.).
