The Internal Quality Assurance Unit (IQAU) consists of five members, four of whom are full-time academic staff without managerial functions, and one student member, recommended by the College Student Council.
The candidates for the IQAU are selected by the Rector, in consultation with the structures from which they come. The approval of the members and its Chair is done by the Academic Senate.
The IQAU:
a. Supports and provides expertise. The members offer expertise in developing the relevant quality assurance processes. In particular, the expertise focuses on the implementation of mechanisms for quality assurance in teaching, assessment, and student involvement in the learning process.
b. Coordinates communication between different structures, especially when the process is delegated to faculties or when there is an evaluation process organized by the College. This coordinating role also extends to other units in the College, when the process involves staff development and the collection/analysis of institutional data.
c. Interprets national and European quality assurance obligations, in order to adapt them to the institutional context. Thus, the IQAU members ensure that these national and European obligations are recognized and integrated by the university.
d. Monitors by providing guidance, collecting information, and identifying problems, which are then forwarded to the responsible units for resolution.
e. Administers, organizes, and prepares external evaluation visits or invites external experts to train staff engaged in internal evaluation.
Within the framework of coordinating the strategic planning process at “Qiriazi” University College, the IQAU:
a. Monitors the process of teaching evaluation, as well as every academic and administrative activity, quality development, and approval of quality standards; all of these in line with the strategic plan and mission of the College.
b. Researches various models, within the framework of quality improvement, that may serve as examples, as well as their dissemination across other academic and administrative units.
c. Coordinates the implementation of internal control standards, in accordance with the regulatory framework of the College, the preparation of the internal control action plan, and, when necessary, the establishment of new standards in the institution.
d. Defines short-term, mid-term, and long-term strategic objectives, in accordance with the mission, vision, and situation of the College.
e. Identifies the current situation and monitors the indicators of the achievement of strategic objectives.
f. Recommends institutional goals and strategies.
g. Proposes the implementation of the institution’s strategic plan and action plan.
h. Proposes activities for improvement and periodic monitoring throughout the institution.
i. Prepares additional recommendations in the IQAU guidelines on quality improvement and strategic planning of academic and administrative units.
j. Prepares and administers the strategic planning of the College and its implementation deadlines.
k. Plans resources for every activity and project, within the framework of a strategic action of the institution’s academic and administrative unit.
l. Evaluates current financing and investment expenditures, necessary for the strategic planning and its implementation by the academic and administrative units, in the short, medium, and long term.
m. Evaluates and publishes all activities prepared in the units regarding the evaluation of academic and administrative services, quality development, and approval of quality standards, within the framework of the College’s strategic plan and goals.
n. Ensures the coordination of the strategic planning process in the units and its alignment with the law on financial management and control, as well as other by-laws. Within the framework of the plan and strategic goals, it evaluates administrative services, develops quality, approves quality standards, and performs every other task in this framework and publishes the results.
o. Notifies the units of the decisions made, supervises the implementation of the work process within the framework of quality assurance, and monitors the results of this work.
p. Follows the process of internal institutional evaluation, as well as the preparation or supervision of the preparation of the self-evaluation report.
q. Oversees the preparation for the College’s “external evaluation” and provides the evaluation institution or organization with every necessary piece of information.
r. Closely follows the internal and institutional evaluation processes and coordinates them with the measures undertaken within the framework of strategic planning, improvement, and periodic monitoring.
s. Provides suggestions based on the problems identified from the SWOT analysis.
t. Reviews and presents to the Senate for approval its reports, after also obtaining the IQAU’s opinion, on the form and content of the annual reports on academic evaluation and quality development of the academic and administrative units submitted to the IQAU.
u. Coordinates the unit in drafting the Internal Evaluation Report, in the periodic processes of institutional and mixed accreditation, and any other task arising from this process.
