Department of Education, Social Sciences, and Sports Recreation

The Department of Education, Social Sciences, and Sports Recreation (DESSR) is a basic teaching and research unit that encompasses homogeneous fields of study and groups the respective teaching modules.

DESSR is a unit that:

  • Encourages, coordinates, and manages teaching activities, research activities, and third-party services, while respecting the academic freedoms of academic staff.

  • Enjoys full autonomy and, at the same time, bears responsibility for the utilization of the material and financial resources at its disposal.

DESSR offers students study programs in the fields of social sciences, education, and sports recreation, aiming at their professional education and scientific qualification in these areas.

The development of new study programs is carried out in accordance with the needs of society, existing conditions, and the country’s development perspectives. University study programs are organized in two consecutive levels: the First Cycle and the Second Cycle of studies.

Graduation at both levels of university studies ensures the training of specialists capable of contributing to solving practical and theoretical problems in the fields of education, social sciences, and sports.

DESSR aims to ensure a level of knowledge comparable to that of diplomas issued by analogous university structures abroad, following contemporary academic and professional standards.

Studies at the Faculty of Education, Social Sciences, and Sports (FESHSS), within DESSR, are organized according to fields of graduation as follows:

  • Physical Education and Sports (First Cycle of Studies – Bachelor)
